Day 1 - we will work on capturing smaller figures within a simple landscape environment
Day 2 - we will work on capturing a single casual figure. Painting on paper (either oil paper for oil painters or mixed media paper/board for acrylic painters) will help keep us fast and loose.
The focus of the workshop is to play with different techniques and grow from the level you are at in a supportive and hands on environment. Life drawing experience is always an asset but not required. No perfectionism expected; exploration and growth fostered. Suitable for working beginners with basic foundational knowledge and intermediate artists. Oil and acrylic painters welcome.
The Instuctor:
Dominique Walker – Dominique Walker is a Senior Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (SFCA), and currently teaches in the IDEA School of Design at Capilano University. She is the fourth generation of a family of female landscape painters known as the Everard Group, whose work can be found in private collections worldwide and the national galleries of South Africa.
She is well known for her oil paintings of the west coast, inspired by the desire to capture the constantly changing light. Her paintings also capture figures in the landscape, in a loose gestural manner that add interest and life to the scenes.
