Andrew McDermott, SFCA
Andrew is the past President and a senior member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Andrew was born in Bolton, England and moved to Canada at a young age. Upon College graduation in Graphic Design and Illustration, he studied and further refined his own unique style, winning top awards in both Canada and the US. His most recent is the Master Circle Medallion for the International Association of Pastel Societies, presented in New Mexico in 2013. Having many published articles, included The Artist magazine 25 under 40, Andrew has also had full feature articles in top art magazines such as International Artist, The Artist UK, Magazin'art, and the Pastel Journal. Andrew is a popular workshop Instructor and gives demos and lessons at many educational facilities, he is a life/figure drawing Instructor for the Illustration department at Capilano University, Langara College, and for the 3D Animation department at the Vancouver Film school.
Ingrid Christensen
Award winning artist, Ingrid Christensen, was born and raised in Golden, a small town in British Columbia, Canada. She studied art and English at UBC in Vancouver and received an Education degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and, for a time, taught in the public-school system. But art was always Ingrid's primary passion, and she eventually quit teaching in order to pursue it wholeheartedly.
Ingrid is inspired by both the French and Russian Impressionists because of their fascination with the effect of light on colour. Her favourite subjects are figures and landscapes, with a special interest in images of figures in water. This last subject allows her to explore the complexity of light, both direct and reflected, as well as the bravura brushwork that has become her signature.
Her bold and colourful paintings have won honours and awards in both international and national exhibitions. Ingrid teaches oil painting at the Calgary School of Art in Calgary, Alberta and regular workshops in both Alberta and BC. Her work is represented by Rendezvous Gallery in Vancouver, BC, Tutt Art Gallery in Kelowna, BC, Oceanside Art Gallery in Qualicum Beach, BC and by Roux and Cyr International Fine Art Gallery in Portland, ME. Ingrid's paintings are held in the offices of the Alberta Pharmacy Association, who commissioned her to create their Centennial artwork, The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and in private collections throughout western Canada, the southern United States and Scandinavia.
Charlie Easton, SFCA
Charlie Easton comes from a family of fine British Painters, and is represented by galleries across North America and Europe.
He moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the same scenery that inspired many of the Group of Seven artists. Getting outside to paint is a priority for Charlie, as he tries to capture light, colour and movement in all of his pieces. A prolific painter of landscapes and seascapes in both oils and acrylics, Charlie paints both from his studio in Vancouver and on location around the world.
He is on the board of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, at Emily Carr University, and at many workshops worldwide.
“In my work I invite the viewer to come hiking with me, to ski by my side, and to see the same striking views that enthrall me so much. I paint in a style which mirrors my life motto. Minimum fuss, maximum enjoyment.”
