Linda Wadley

"Hilda Creek, Glacier & Mountain" by Linda Wadley

Originally an Alberta artist, Linda has moved from the mountains of Jasper East, AB and is now located in the city of Vernon, BC. A landscape, en plein air, artist with oils and acrylics, she is looking forward to capturing the Okanagan Valley on canvas.

Art Education for Linda started in 1972 incorporating art courses and workshops from the University of Alberta, Faculty of Extension, and other respected institutions including Emily Carr College of Art and Design, The Red Deer Art College and Grande Prairie Regional College. In 1999, Linda was the first Alberta artist to receive the prestigious award of a “Fine Art Certificate in Drawing and Painting” from the University of Alberta, for demonstrating a determined and earnest attitude toward the pursuit of excellence in the disciplines of painting and drawing over a twenty-five year study of art.

Linda's artwork has been entered in numerous competitions, many of them taking top places with awards, scholarships and honours. She has created well over 800 paintings and they have been represented in acclaimed galleries and exhibitions. They included the Brushfire Gallery, Sunrise Gallery, Jasper Park Lodge Gallery and the Yellowhead Museum in Jasper; the White Museum and Gallery in Banff; Mountain Top Hinton; the Red Brick Museum Art Center in Edson.  Galleries in Edmonton included the Front, Edmonton Museum Gallery, and Serendipity, the Edmonton Art Gallery as well as numerous spot locations around the city. The Red Deer Museum Gallery; Stony Plain Museum Gallery; Kensington in Calgary and the Leighton Art Centre Gallery just out of Calgary; and in Vancouver the Rendezvous Art Gallery and Emily Carr Art Gallery. At present time, she is starting anew as an artist of British Columbia.

She has had numerous articles written about her artwork and accomplishments. A number of privately commissioned works represent the art of Linda Wadley, and she has had paintings juried into permanent Collections. Collectors own many of her paintings across Canada and around the world.

Linda states that when painting on location, en plein air, she seeks to capture the essence of the day, with the objective being for the viewer to feel the mood and motion of the land as she experienced it while she was out and at one with nature. Linda focuses her creative energies on canvas, whether it be out in the garden, back in the forest or high on a mountain.
