Jim Laing Jim Laing was born in Montreal and for many years practiced nationally and internationally as a consulting engineer. He now paints from his home studio in Lake Country BC. Working in oils, acrylics, pen and pencil, Jim is largely self-taught but has benefited greatly from various workshops and short courses. His is particularly grateful for lessons and workshops given by Dennis Weber AFCA and other accomplished Canadian artists. Enjoying a wide range of subjects, Jim's paintings include images of children at play, landscapes, portraits, wildlife and still-life scenes. He is particularly interested in portraying light and how it falls across a subject or scene influencing colours and mood. Working in both realistic and impressionistic styles, his paintings have been displayed in over 20 shows and in the Barn Gallery.

Selected paintings are in private collections in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Australia.
