"Reflections" by Gerry Chambers

Gerry Chambers

Gerry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and at an early age she showed her love for drawing and in her later years painting.

After her four children grew up and she had some free time she decided to persue her interest in painting. She studied painting with oils in Germany in 1979. Then in 1983 while living in Lr. Sackville, N.S. she attended oil painting classes again for two more years with Bev Hubley and in Winnipeg continued with her instruction in oils while working at a full time job. She exhibited three of her paintings in the Conservatory at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg.

After retiring to Kelowna in 1992 she decided to continue with her painting and on a change of medium. She had always liked watercolours and therefore decided to take instruction in that medium. She studied under Evelyne MacMillan for two years and then with Janice Kierstad-Hennig for one year.

Gerry joined  the Kelowna Palette Club in 2007.  She decided to try Acrylics and is using that medium along with oils and watercolours. “I love the brightness of acrylics and the way you can blend your colours, almost like oils and they dry so much faster”.

Gerry received her Active Membership in FCA as of July 2, 2008.
