"Boats" by Dianne Smith

Dianne Smith

Dianne was born and raised in Ontario and has always had a love of art and painting. Mother of 4 boys and a successful business woman, her love of painting was put on hold while her family was young. During the mid 1980's Dianne returned to night school and earned certificates in Business Administration and Photography.

In 1990 Dianne joined the Visual Arts Society of Mississauga (VAM) to once again follow her dream of painting. Her work was featured in exhibitions with VAM and won Best of the Show with the Mississauga Arts Society for her painting "The Sugar Shack."

In 2002 Dianne retired and moved to Oyama B.C. After settling into her new home and surroundings, Dianne brought out her paints to once again follow a dream.  In 2003, Dianne joined the Federation of Canadian Artists and has attended many workshops featuring oil and acrylic painting.  Although mainly self-taught, she has also taken instruction from Marlene MacPherson and James Hayes.

Dianne has exhibited and sold her work through The Barn Gallery since 2005.  In 2009 her painting, "The Red Boats on Dee Lake" was selected by Wood Lake Villa's Inc.  for their marketing program at Art Walk.
Most of Dianne’s paintings are from her extensive collection of photographs and hang in corporate  and private collections in Ontario and British Columbia.

Lake Country offers daily inspiration to me as an artist with the ever-changing vista’s and natural beauty of the land.
