Come out for a 2 day plein air workshop and immerse yourself in nature! All Levels welcome!

Don’t be afraid – there is No Expectation –  the intent is not to paint a masterpiece, simply a chance for growth, exploration , being in touch with nature, and having fun with fellow artists .

Outdoor paintings create looser , freer brushstrokes – you will benefit from having to focus on the big shapes, values and light and you will become faster in your work.   You will learn to see more colors in the shadows and the sunlit areas as you are painting directly from the source.

Ann will be painting in oils, which is the preferred medium for plein air painting, but water-soluble oils and acrylics are welcome.

We will focus on

1.       Materials and equipment – must haves and extras

2.       Scene selection – how to narrow down what is before you to a workable composition

3.       Doing Thumbnail sketches to determine composition

4.       Underpainting

5.       Blocking in color

We will meet up briefly Thursday June 6th, 2019, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm,  at the Art House, next to the Lake Country Art Gallery, 10356 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country, B.C.  to go over some of the basics – this will give you an opportunity to find out what to expect during our painting outdoors workshop. You will also be able to ask any questions about materials, supplies, etc.  Supply list will be distributed upon registration.   We will be painting outdoors both days – One of the days will be at a local winery (yes!!) which also has a covered patio in case of inclement weather and the other will be at a location in Kelowna. Full details will be provided at the Thursday night meeting.
