In this one-day workshop, we will focus primarily on the “non-thinking” part of creating an abstract painting. While there will be discussions on design fundamentals and what makes for a powerful painting, participants will be encouraged to use their imagination, trust their intuition and let go of their need for control. The joy will be in the process of painting, not necessarily in the end result. Participants will discover their own personal language by the mark-making they do. This workshop will benefit beginning and experienced painters alike.
After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in the 1980s, Renata had a successful career as a graphic designer in Ontario and Europe for 25 years, specializing in corporate design. Since moving to Kelowna, British Columbia in 2009, she has rediscovered her love of painting and the opportunity it provides for creative expression. She has brought her extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of design to the painting process, creating works filled with texture, movement and vivid explosions of colour.
She is an Associate Signature Member (AFCA) of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has won numerous national awards for her paintings. Her work is held in private collections throughout North America.
In addition to participating in various courses and workshops given by prominent contemporary painters to further her artistic journey, Renata has also conducted workshops to fellow artists on the intuitive process of abstract painting.
Renata believes in the healing power of art.
