Gloria Pada I was born in Armstrong, B.C. and raised in Enderby, B.C. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of British Columbia. I taught school in Courtenay and in North Vancouver but spent most of my teaching career in Kelowna. Although I have had no formal training in art, except for teaching methods courses, I have always had a keen interest in sketching and in painting. Art was an integral part of my teaching. Over the years, I benefitted from recreational art courses. Since taking early retirement from teaching, I have been able to put more energy and time into painting. I have taken courses through Kelowna Art Gallery and many workshops sponsored by the Federation of Canadian Artists and given by accomplished artists. I have been juried into many shows and have won awards of excellence. |
I strive to explore realism through light and color. The images that I paint are those that I have experienced and that are meaningful to me. I like to have people or a sense of human presence in my paintings.
