Karen Coon

Karen has lived in Winfield since 1996, and while busy with family and a working career before retiring in 2010, she is primarily a self-taught artist who has managed over the years to squeeze time enough to partially satisfy a deep desire to paint.  Now, since retiring, she finally has more time to spend in her art room! Figurative and portraits in oil have always been top of the list for potential subject, but more recent opportunities to travel have inspired landscape and floral work.  She is a romantic realist who also loves the process of painting, which is completely engaging and fulfilling for her – “almost like being in another dimension when time seems suspended”.   She is excited for the future, to whatever wonderful art experiences are out there and, in the meantime, she intends continue to explore, learn and paint as much as possible!
