Jerry Markham

Jerry Markham was born in Alberta, Canada in November 1978 and in recent years moved to British Columbia where he currently resides.

Jerry’s interests, experiences and travels play a significant role in the subjects he chooses to paint. His focus as a painter is to represent nature and human activity in an artistic fashion in order to leave a history for others to enjoy and experience through his expression of a subject.

Painting from life is very important to Jerry in order to capture and represent the true essence of a subject. His typical process includes doing drawings and small studies of his subject from life, then he completes a larger painting in the studio. His medium of choice is oil.

He comments: “Painting, for me, has evolved into a series of life experiences. It is a personal journey of discovery, challenges, and an exploration of knowledge. I am always surprised as to what subjects I find interesting and beautiful.”

Jerry, whose paintings are collected worldwide, is a member of the Oil Painters of America and Federation of Canadian Artists. Recent awards and accomplishments include being featured in International Artist Magazine's Landscape Competition (February/March 2010 issue), The Artist's Magazine Annual Competition in the landscape category (November 2009 issue), the Canadian Brushstroke Magazine, as well as a number of awards at exhibitions in 2009. He is also the active President of the Central Okanagan Chapter of the FCA for 2009/2010.
