"The Homestead" by Gladys Wilson

Gladys Wilson

Gladys was born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan.  From her childhood she began to excel in her favorite subject of Art.

Gladys pursued painting initially in oils in the 1960's, gathering together with a few others who had the same passion to paint. They formed the Lloydminster Palette Club where Gladys exhibited her work. The Lloydminster Palette Club was very fortunate to have Lindsay Evans, a very close friend of A.Y. Jackson (of the Group of Seven), to inspire and critique them.

After a few years Gladys and her husband became very involved in ministry, pastoring a church in Edmonton. As a result, she did not pick up a brush for the next thirty years until 1992 when they moved to Kelowna, B.C. to retire.

Gladys loves to paint various subjects from her memories of the beautiful Canadian Prairies, the majesty of British Columbia and other places she has traveled.

Today Gladys paints in oils, acrylics, and watercolours. Her watercolour painting, “Tulips”,  won First Prize in the Canadian Federation of Artists held at the Hamblin Gallery in Kelowna.

Gladys is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and exhibits with various groups and shows including Artwalk.
