Carol Ursel

"The Colour Purple" by Carol Ursel

Carol Ursel

Carol was born and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her love of art was formed at an early age.

She is married and has three children. In the early 1970’s, Carol’s husband’s career took the family to Montreal where she began her study of landscapes in oil. Several years later, upon her return to Manitoba, she began studying the use of watercolors and also acrylics. Her paintings are usually bold and her love of painting children stems from having 9 grandchildren to give her inspirations. Her desire would be that the viewer felt a part of the painting, to touch the child’s hand, smell the flowers or perhaps walk down the painted path. Her paintings are created from her imagination or a picture that she may have taken. A ladybug is painted in every painting.

She and her husband Jim, retired to Kelowna, British Columbia in 1997, which has given her more time to pursue her love of art.

Her other interests consist of watching her family curl competitively, sewing, golfing, traveling and walking.  Her belief is that we should all look at the world as if we wanted to paint it, full of colour and wonder.

She is currently an active member of the Kelowna Palette Club, and an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. She has taken part in several workshops and art shows.

Her paintings are hanging in British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, Alberta and the United States.

Originals and reproductions of her work can often be found at charity auctions.
